It is a long trip, especially for Jasmine and Ozgur who travel 2 hours just to get to my home, then its another hour and half to get to San Jose. Of course, they came up Thursday night.
Why such a long trip to see a dentist? Why not find one closer? We tried. I had a bad experience with a dentist here in Modesto when I moved here 10 years ago. Jasmine had a very bad experience with a dentist she tried down in Visalia (who caused a huge injury to her gums).
So we travel to the nicest, most gentile and best dentist we know. We have been with him for 20 years. We joke that one day, we will move to Santorini and still come for our check-ups.
Once we were all done with our visit, we did our usual routine. We had lunch at a Japanese restaurant, which was a new experience for Ozgur. We dragged him in, rather unwillingly. He had this notion that we could not convince him otherwise, that all Japanese food is raw fish. Of course it isn't.

Yummie!!

Ozgur survives, and actually LIKES Japanese food!
After lunch we strolled down Santana Row, visiting our favorite shops. Jasmine loves Anthropologie and I love La Table le Sur.

Then we went across the street to the mall. The mall has become so huge since we lived in the area. They have some fabulous shops.

One of my favorites is Teavana. I get into trouble there. I had NO intention of stopping in. I have no control. One whiff of their wonderful teas, and my credit card flies out of my wallet. I had every intention to only look in the window, but then Ozgur said "Let's just look!".
Maybe he was getting even for making him have Japanese food.
Once in there, I tasted a wonderful fruity tea sample and had to buy some.
Ok...not just one flavor, but 8!! AND a new loose leaf brew pot.

Like really....do I need MORE tea??

I know...way too much and it needs to be tidied up
Of course I do. Can't have too much tea...or beads...or books...
What can't you get enough of and like me, are a bit embarrassed by your stash?

I'm like that with coffee and cups to hold that delicious brew in. I admit that I had a huge stash of Scottie dog things all through my house with 99% of it packed away. I use to collect everything all the time every where, but once I was introduced to the world of beads, I slacked off. But I still find one or two items a year that I must have. But back to coffee...a friend on mine owned Scottie MacBean & you know I had to go in there. We became good friends & I ran his gift shop for a few years, but going in there & smelling the fresh roast coffee made me so happy. Unfortunately when he turned 50 I think his brain went to mush as he decided to become a male stripper & let the business go even insulting our customers so the beautiful two shops had to close. I miss that time of sitting by the roaster with the roaster master waiting for it to finally be done & opening the door to see those brown steaming beans waiting to be ground & brewed. Oh man...I really really miss that store.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...coffee! Love that too! What is your favorite coffee? I do like Starbucks (although many coffee afficianados don't). I love their Christmas Expresso Roast. Pete's Coffee is great too.
ReplyDeleteGotta have 1/2 & 1/2 in coffee. Cant drink it black. Milk doesn't do it for me. Dried creamer is nasty, but some of the bottled creamers are ok when I am in a sweet-coffee mood. I like the Almond Joy creamer.
Selling coffee to becoming a male stripper. That is sadly funny. Maybe he had too much caffeine? Sad when good stores go under for any reason
I admit to being guilty of collecting books, beads, and yarn. That doesn't count my stamp collection but I seem to have been out of control when it comes to yarn. I am a knitter, a beader, and a cross stitcher. Oops, forgot to include the supplies and kits for cross stitch. I am in serious contention for cross stitch and yarn for "She who dies with the most wins!" I'm afraid it has become a family joke. I have been able to curtain my purchase of new yarn lately and plan to give most of the worsted weight yarn to charity (I am into the thinner yarns lately for socks, etc.) Besides beading and knitting books, I am guilty of collecting history books. I love history and mystery. I have even found mysteries dealing with needlework and knitting. That is lethal for me. As far as coffee goes, my favorite is Starbuck's Cafe Verona and I LOVE espresso and latte. I figure I am too old to change now, so love me, love my goodies. But I am trying to organize and curtail some of it. Wish me luck, I am gonna need it.
ReplyDeleteGoddesses! And earrings! Of course, I can make my own earrings but I love being "gifted" with new, unusual ones. And, as you know, Ganesh.
