I couldn’t help myself. I was bad girl. I felt guilty after I did it, but at the time it felt so good. It was so much fun. Really it was. But now, well…I am a bit worried that I went overboard.
The sun and the moon conspired against me. The “universe” knows my Achilles heal, and took advantage of me. It is fall, even here in sunny California. Fall brings out my hoarding tendencies to its maximum. I take cue from the squirrels I see, gathering nuts for the long winter. You read my earlier post regarding my tendency to hoard beads and food, right? Well….as if I did not have enough stored, I gathered more!
The bead truck (aka UPS) has already been here twice. There is more on the way. Remember I told you, one of my bead suppliers had a 30% off WHOLESALE sale on seed beads? Yes I ordered a bunch. Way more than I should. Mostly Aikos, and some cube beads. I restrained myself from the 11’s and 14’s I wanted. What I didn’t tell you (but will now) is I also ordered from my other favorite supplier who supplies my Delicas.
What was I to do? Especially when I am notified that because of the weak dollar, that Delicas are going to INCREASE in price by 10-15% as of October 15, 2009. What would you do in my position? Yes, I went through my inventory, and only bought those beads that I was low on (and would have had to order within the next 3 months anyways). Ok…fine, quit interrogating me. I also ordered a few colors that I did not have.
That was on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, I shamefully admit. I ordered more. Honestly, there were some beads I forgot to order. That butterfly I have been working on and shoved aside because I am getting ready for a show this upcoming weekend, has Delicas in it that I only had a few grams of. I am going to offer it as a Kit, so I needed to order 3 colors for it so that I could make kits. What was I to do? I couldn’t order only 3 colors. I had to order a few more.
Oh what have I done!! Each of the 3 orders by themselves was hefty enough of a bill. I cringed each time I paid up. I thought of the money I saved due to the sale, or by avoiding the increase in price, and it made me feel better. So much better, I guess I had to do it two more times.
Now, when I am looking at the three orders together, I am freaked! I cannot believe how much I have spent!! I think I spent more than the annual gross economy of a small nation! It would put a dent in the State budget problems! I am so glad I also have my food hoarding tendencies! There won’t be any money left to buy groceries for a while.
Do you ever do this? Buy way too many beads (or books, or clothing…or whatever you like to spend money on)? What do you do to make your guilt go away?
At least I have a show coming up next weekend! At least I have some hope of earning some of my money back.
Have a pattern sale, you say??

LOL, and just how many others did you infect with this illness? Musta gotten as far East as NH as I think I've just done the same thing 'cause I needed to try 10/Delicas... ONE color would have satisfied that need. Bead buying flu must be on a par with Swine flue this year.
ReplyDeleteJust don't name this disease after me!! I can see it, Sig's Hoarding Influenza Torment (S.H.I.T)
ReplyDeleteDo not blame that S.H.I.T. on me!!! Don't even try!!!!
I am literally on the floor LMAO!!!! I think I have been infected with this flu too. I promise not to blame the S.H.I.T on you, but I sure did enjoy the creative name. Thanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteOne is an illness, two makes it an epidemic, with you, Cheryl, I hate to say it, the S.H.I.T. is pandemic. Where is the CDC? Vaccinations? Quarantine facilities.....
ReplyDeletePut all us bead hoarders together (with our bead stash) and we won't care if we ever leave!
I have it too!! YACHOOOO!! sniff, sniff
ReplyDeleteALERT THE CDC!!!! More have it than I thought!!!
